Chem 112-Today we will do a mini lab of chromatography and learn what STEEP means and

= Chem 112-We went over separating matter today and saw a demo of a centrifuge. We completed the chapter by finding out what molten state decomposition was, and finding out the contributions of Volta and Humphrey Davy. p 47 #39 was assigned, as well as #7 to 10 on the two step metric sheet. Do not forget to bring in water soluble markers for tomorrow's mini lab.
Chem 122- We will check over the calcualtions from tuesday(22a and b). Today we will learn about the simple calorimeter and do some calculations involving delta H = q. The following questions will be assigned. p 357 #29, 31, 30 and #27 Some people passed in their revview assignments early.

Chem 112- Today we did a quiz on metric conversion and lab safety(There were 10 true false questions worth 10 marks and 5 metric conversions worth 8 marks) We overviewed MSDS and WHMIS. The second group finished their lab safety exercise in pairs, while the first group worked on their Evaluation/Synthesis assignment. The Evaluation/Synthesis is due tomorrow. P 41 33 to 37 was assigned for homework.

p 354 #23 to 26. I also overviewed the formulas and units for this chapter. A review topic sheet was given out with the review topics for the test next friday. We completed the group work from yesterday. I passed out a review topic sheet for the test on chapter 10.

Chem 112-Today we will work on a lab safety exercise in the lab, go over the problem solving model using the handout from above and work on the Evaluation and synthesis for the Mg burning demonstration(this is due thursday). We will also finish the second metric worksheet. Quiz tomorrow....do not forget to study and memorize the metric prefixes.
Chem 122-We will use #21 to mathematically show why one should not eat snow in a survival situation and deal with some more heating and cooling curves. I will assign a small assignment out of 20 that will involve showing all work for a delta E total question. Assigned questions 22 a) 22b) on p 353.

Chem 112-Today we did some notes on what Chemistry is and how to learn Chemistry. We added some more formulas to our study list...ammonia, propane and water. We did a homework check and went over some more metric questions. I gave out another sheet with 2 step metric questions and assigned to the end of #6. I also assigned p 29 #1 to 4b and reading p 597 to 600.
Chem 122-Today we learned how to draw heating/cooling curves. We drew several well labelled heating/cooling curves in groups for display purposes.(yes these will be displayed )I also did a homework check on friday's theory questions. p 351 #21 all was assigned to be started in class and finished as homework.
